From Vision to Mission
How we started
2014 - 2016: The Vision
While Mette and Alex served as missionaries in Sierra Leone (2013 – 2016) they saw the need of scaling up training and being able to deliver training in a format that would help audio/visual learners to better engage with the resources. These thoughts resulted in an initial project description, which involved the development of audio/visual resources and the creation of a tool that would be able to deliver these resources without relying on the internet.
2016 - 2019: Research
From 2016 Mette and Alex began to research the market to see if there we existing products that could be used to deliver the level of structured learning in offline contexts. There were options, but none of the options offered the flexible solution we were looking for.
2019: Project taking shape
It took several years before we identified the right team and were able to fund the actual development work and dedicate the time required to do it. In 2019 we began to create the overall roadmap for the project. This journey was of incredible importance as it helped us better understand what we needed and to build a timeframe to deliver the minimum viable product, which we could use for testing in safe environments.
2020 - 2024: Development
The actual development work began in 2020. The project started with software development, which defined the hardware requirements. We soon realized that our product would need a unique hardware solution, so it would serve the hot and humid contexts we wanted to reach.
Where we are now
2023 - 2024: Testing started (closed beta)
In October 2023 we formally launched our closed beta testing. We wanted to tested a small amount of units to identify both hardware and software issues. This testing resulted in modifications on hardware and software based on experience and feedback from testers.
2024: Launch (open beta)
We now feel more confident in our product. Of course there will be bugs and issues we need to resolve, but we believe in our solution, and know that we will be able to handle software updates with remote updates. We now have fully working digital eco-system, which involves hardware, software, learning App, and a unique cloud solution which allows collaboration between organisations. We could not have achieved this without our dedicated team of developers, testers and supporters.
2025: Full scale launch
We will continue to develop our software and there will be new updates shared to make the boxes even more user-friendly. We expect to release a new software update towards the end of 2024, which will be the version that should serve us for the next many years.
Where we are heading
2024 - 2027: Impact 1.000.000 lives
We have set a goal to impact the lives of 1.000.000 people in three years. This can be achieved if we manage to produce and deploy 20.000 TheWell boxes. Each box will reach an average of 50 unique users. We cannot do this alone. We believe in the necessity of building partnerships with multiple organisations, so we can see lives transformed and the Good News preached in every corner of the world.
You can join our vision and make it your mission!
